Tecar Therapy

Information

Tecar energy therapy, also known as Tecar Therapy, has been applied and supported by thousands of patients, as well as many top athletes, since its therapeutic properties bring immediate and impressive results from its very first application. Today, it is a point of reference, with more than 4000 physical therapy and rehabilitation centers in the world in less than four years having incorporated Tecar therapy (radio frequency therapy – Tecar Therapy) into their treatments.

The energy used during Tecar therapy (Tecar Therapy) could also be characterized as “an organic accelerator of physiology”. It is essentially a high frequency current, which can range between 300 kHz and 1 MHz. This energy accelerates the “natural regeneration” of the biological tissues, thus offering a faster healing of the tissues, a reduction of pain and a short return of the patient to everyday life. It is a completely non-invasive and 100% natural energy for the human body, due to its low intensity, while it allows us to deal with many pathological problems in the field of physical therapy, sports, and aesthetics.

Through this energy, a flow of Na and K ions with extremely fast electrical oscillations is caused in the cellular environment. These oscillations then lead to an increase in the permeability of the cell membrane, which makes ion exchange more favorable and, by extension, faster tissue healing.

Fields of Application

When can Tecar treatment be applied?

Tecar Therapy (Tecar Therapy) can be applied to many ailments, constantly gaining ground in the field of rehabilitation. One of the main reasons is the endogenous heat produced by the body itself in reaction to the operation of the device.

Its name comes from the initials of the words Transfer Electricity Capacitive and Resistive, and it basically refers to a device that transfers energy to the tissues of our body. Unlike other physical therapy machines, Tecar Therapy can be used both during the acute and chronic phase of a pathology. The effectiveness of the method makes it unique, since the patient immediately perceives the benefits of the treatment, while the reduction of the patient’s pain and the increase in the range of motion, from the very first session, is remarkable.

The indications for the application of Tecar Therapy are many, while such a treatment can offer an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, stopping the vicious cycle of pain – inflammation – stiffness, freeing the range of joints, fibrolytic effect, reducing swelling, facilitating the diffusion of blood, improving the recovery process, reducing recovery time and therefore speeding up the return to physical exercise.

It has excellent results both in acute and chronic diseases, where in a treatment of 8 to 10 sessions, at a rate of 2 to 3 sessions per week, it brings about immediate and permanent results in tissue reorganization.

Research & Historical Review

How did the Tecar treatment start?

After 125 years of studies and research, it is now proven that treatment using Tecar (Tecar Therapy) can bring impressive results and the patient’s recovery can be achieved within a few physical therapy sessions.

1890: Discovery of the permeability of the plasma cell membrane to high frequency currents from 100 kHz to 10 MHz. (Jacques Arsene d’Arsonval, French doctor, natural medicine & inventor).
1939: The first Capacitive and Resistive physical therapy devices with frequencies around 500 kHz are manufactured by William Beaumont, an English physical therapist and doctor of physical medicine.
1985: Devices with high frequency current with multipolar electrodes are manufactured, for use in aesthetic medicine (Frequency 1 MHz).
1995: The term Tecar (Transfer of Electrically Capacitive & Antistatic Energy) is used for the first time. New scientific studies published in Italy applying energy from 500 kHz to 650 kHz.
2013: Winback is founded, which in less than 2 years, exceeded 400 sales.

Today, there are several companies that manufacture Tecar devices, some of which are Winback, Indiba, Human Tecar and Wintecare. The difference of the French manufacturing company Winback compared to the rest of the competition, is that it has as its basic philosophy that the therapist can combine Tecar Therapy with other therapeutic techniques, such as Manual Therapy. In this way, the treatment becomes even more effective, while the number of required physical therapy sessions is reduced and the patient soon returns to his daily activities.

Treatment Benefits

What does the Tecar treatment offer?

The Tecar sped up treatment and relieves pain in muscles and joints. As previously mentioned, this is a type of non-invasive high frequency energy that enhances our body’s natural regenerative capacity.
In simple words from the very first Tecar therapy (Tecar Therapy):

  • You will be relieved of pain
  • Your movement will improve
  • Your recovery will be faster

Your specialist physical therapist will use the Tecar device during rehabilitation sessions, simultaneously with chiropractic techniques (Manual Therapy), as well as fascial mobilization techniques (Myofascial Release, Ergon Technique, IASTM, etc.), to ensure a pleasant and relaxation therapy.

Sports & Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

Tecar in Sports

Tecar therapy (Tecar Therapy) became widely known since its appearance in the sports arena. Today, most major sports teams as well as top athletes in all sports use Tecar Therapy.
The reason is that it enhances the performance of athletes, provides urgent and immediate care for acute musculoskeletal injuries, while in combination with immediate care it reduces the degree of injury and offers the athlete a faster and more effective return to physical activity.
Tecar Therapy (Tecar Therapy) is of course not only used for people who are involved in sports, but also for everyone who has any other problem, as research has shown positive results in a wide range of pathologies. More specifically, Tecar Therapy can be applied in the following cases.

  • Muscle Injuries
  • Ligament Injuries
  • Tendonitis
  • Muscle strains & tears
  • Lumbago
  • Sprains
  • Chronic Pathologies
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Lymphedema
  • Fractures
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Acute and subacute pathologies
  • Trigger Points
  • Cervical Syndrome
  • Muscle Spasms
  • Symphytic Bursitis (Frozen Shoulder)
